Welcome to Moodyblues Whippets Dog Blog: Pup of the Week! Kaze 2/20/26

2/20/26

Here you'll find a weekly (or so) spotlight of a dog/puppy from our Moodyblues Whippets family. and what they've been up to! (Look for special "guest vignettes" occasionally as well!)

This week's pup of the week is Kaze.

Kaze

Moodyblues Sitting Here Resting My Bones, BCAT

My real name is 風

This is Japanese for wind, pronounced

kah-zay.

I'm from the Moodyblues' "Dock of the Bay" litter - born 11/7/2021 (my puppy name was Tuna)

My mom is Zelda (Bobbilees Race Like an Ace FCAT, SC, CA) and my dad is Denim

(Eryri Blue Bojangle at Moxie BCAT. from Timbreblue Whippets)

Me as a wee pup.

I have always loved my crate!

I am an only dog and I live with Ann and Bruce in Bethesda, Maryland.  Here are pictures of my pick-up day in Charlottsville in January 2022.

Me saying goodbye to my first mom- Debby (her breeder)

My mom Zelda and my sibs were worried about my future when I was taken, but I think I did alright.

I go crazy when I get together with my human big sister Hannah and my big brother Sam.  Here are photos from the first time I met my human siblings.

Sam has a dog named Benito, a shepherd pitbull mix who is 2.5X what I weigh. Me with my nephew Benito.

As Benito’s aunt, I feel a responsibility to discipline him as may be necessary

I knew this was a whippet friendly house when I arrived.  Here are photos of my older siblings, Echo and Turbo, Echo born at Timbreblue and Turbo – Bo – rescued through Timbreblue.  I wish I could have played with them

Sports/dog events I participate in:

I picked up up frisbee at an early age

I love my agility class

I love FastCAT racing, and I have a BCAT ribbon to prove it!

My favorite activity is being chased by another dog.  I like it because I always win.

Other favorite activities:

I love shopping.

I look forward to winter retreats at Pawleys Island South Carolina, where I get to run offleash.

I love meeting new people, though I have grown weary of my parents’ obviously pointless efforts to get me to stop jumping on them.

All in all my favorite activity might be snoozing in my cozy cave.

My favorite toy:

I have many favorite toys and have a non-discrimination policy in that regard.  Once I slipped my leash, ran uninvited into a neighbor’s house, stole a stuffed animal from their dog’s stash, and ran down street with it.  Another time a I surprised a toddler in his stroller by jumping up and snatching his stuffed animal out of his hands.  I love the thug life.  I have a special affection for several generations of Lamp Chop, because their disembowelment is super satisfying.

The worst thing I ever chewed up was :

my Dad’s favorite baseball cap, a vintage Washington Nationals souvenir.  I really needed it and couldn’t help myself.

My favorite snack is dried cod skin rolls, a brand called Icelandic+.  They are so satisfying because they are super crunchy.

I consider myself elegan and make a point of always looking my best.

But there is one more thing you should know about me:  YOU MUST FEAR ME. I am an apex predator.  As you can see from the picture of me disciplining Benito above, I know my way around a tough neighborhood.  I have sharpened many of my skills from watching nature videos.  I do my homework every day in our backyard fulfilling my apex predator nature by hunting rabbits and chipmunks.  They foolishly invade my domain.

My favorite day ever was when a fawn somehow got in my backyard, and I chased it for 3 minutes all around the yard while it was bleating loudly and pathetically, with dad, even more pathetically, trying to catch us.  I finally brought the fawn to the ground, tackling it in the middle of a straightaway. Dad rescued the fawn, which I guess is okay since I didn’t really know what to do with once I caught it.
